The Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board is part of a national network of organizations involved in workforce preparation and employment. Board activities and programs are designed to meet both the needs of the communities' businesses and the needs of job seekers and those who want to further their careers. The board is comprised of both public and private sector members who work together to fund and support programs targeted at youth, adults, and dislocated workers in a three-county area who are in need of training, career exploration assistance, career counseling, or lay-off assistance. The board manages and oversees funds granted to Grundy, Livingston, and Kankakee Counties through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act.
The purpose of this study is to provide a snapshot of the social and economic trends of each county in LWIA 11 and a further assessment of the labor market gap analyses, labor shed analyses, and industry cluster analyses. The intent is for workforce and economic development entities, government, and business leaders alike to use the information presented to coordinate efforts and target activities to better support worker skill development, job creation, and improved economic opportunities.
The Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board along with the Northeast Region has created industry specific career pathway sheets, which focus on industry overviews, growth, and training in our 3-county workforce area. This project includes one-page occupational handouts specific to each county as well as an industry overview sheet with information regarding the careers in Grundy, Livingston, and Kankakee County.
